There are several lights on a car: tail lights that sit next to brake lights, an indicator that doubles up as a hazard light, and car headlights that can be set to different modes. The headlight assembly is one of the most important components of a car. Here is a brief introduction to headlights with different headlight bulbs.

Headlights with xenon or high-intensity discharge (HID) bulbs

Xenon headlights are a popular choice, which uses metals and heated gases to produce a bright blue or white illumination. The ice white/blue tint and extreme brightness of these headlights will make them easy for drivers to see on the road. Xenon lights have outstanding brightness and range of light, but they can also create glare and dazzle other drivers. Xenon HID headlight bulbs have two electrodes, one on each end of the tube-shaped bulb, and are filled with xenon gas. When the light is turned on, a current of electricity flows between the two electrodes, illuminating the xenon gas. The xenon gas is only used when the bulb is first turned on. Other gases in the bulb guarantee the lamp stays lit until the proper temperature is attained inside.

Headlights with LED bulbs

Xenons are now being replaced with LEDs, or light emitting diodes, since they are more energy efficient, last longer, and enable car makers to design distinctive light shapes. LED headlight bulbs receive electricity from one or more electrical sources. They emit light with a brightness comparable to a xenon bulb and generate very little heat, making them more effective and less expensive to run. Being one of the brightest headlight bulbs, LED headlights, with less glare than other bulbs, are excellent for creating light that is similar to that of daylight and do not dazzle oncoming cars.

Headlights with halogen bulbs

The most common types of bulbs are halogen bulbs, often known as filament bulbs. Halogen lamps employ a tungsten filament and a combination of inert gases, commonly nitrogen and argon, to create light. Because they are inexpensive to produce and replace, they are frequently used. Although these halogen headlights are widely used, they are not as effective or bright as other solutions. The addition of a blue coating to the bulb will convert the color of the light to be more white. There will be a little decrease in light intensity as a result.
