What is a ring pop?

A ring pop is a piece of candy that is made to look like and also functions as jewelry. Marketed toward children, a ring pop consists of a small plastic ring and a piece of hard candy that serves as the "gemstone" on the top. The ring pop ring has a circular disk that is located between the candy and the wearer's finger, to prevent the hands from becoming sticky from the candy. The candy is meant to be eaten like a lollipop. Ring pops are generally small pieces of candy, but giant ring pops are also available. Ring pop gummies are a variation on the traditional ring pop. Ring pops can be bought for everyday situations or special occasions. For example, ring pops can be for Valentine's Day, Halloween, or birthday parties.

How is a ring pop made?

Ring lollipops are made by pouring liquid flavored candy into a jewel-shaped mold. The plastic ring is inserted into the mold, so that the two pieces will be joined. When the candy cools and hardens, the entire ring pop is taken out and packaged. A ring pop is mainly made of glucose syrup, sugar, water, and gelatin. Ring pop candy contains less than 2% of the other ingredients such as citric acid, malic acid, and artificial flavoring. Artificial flavoring and red, yellow, and blue coloring are used to create the different flavors.

What flavors are there of ring pop?

Ring pops come in a variety of flavors. Ring pop flavors are all variations on fruit flavors. Watermelon ring pops and strawberry ring pops are examples of the available flavors. These flavors are usually color coded. For example, green for the watermelon flavor, red for the strawberry flavor, and blue for the blue raspberry flavor. In addition to the normal fruit flavors, there are sour options.
