About products and suppliers

Galvanized steel is a conventional steel sheet that has been coated with zinc which makes them corrosion-resistant. Stripping galvanized metal will leave the material underneath exposed to rust. These steels may be made into strips which are called galvanized steel strips. Unlike strip galvanized coating, regular steel parts made of iron will rust when exposed to moisture, leading to a point of failure.

How is Galvanized Metal Strip Made?

Galvanized sheet metal strips are zinc-iron alloy materials made by coating the base metal through a hit dip process which is then headed to induce alloying between the steel and the molten zinc. This results in galvanized metal strips with a dull matte surface that is conducive to welding.

The surface is also excellent for paint adhesion. This process is referred to as galvanization. Galvanized strips are used in several applications due to their durability, formidability and strength of steel along with the corrosion protection of the zinc-iron coating.

What are the Advantages of Galvanized Steel Strips?

Galvanized steel strips have relatively low initial costs compared to treated steel. It also does not require extra surface preparation, painting, coating or inspections, making it immediately ready for use when delivered. This drastically saves costs.

With an average lifespan of above 50 years in an average environment, galvanized steel has a longer life span. It also does not require maintenance and cans last for over 20 years under severe water exposure. Due to its zinc coating, it is rust-resistant and does not damage easily.

How Can You Tell if a Metal is Galvanized?

Galvanized metals have a distinct look with visible lines known as spangle patterns. It appears as if someone dipped a sponge in grey paint and sponge-painted the metal due to its lighter and darker spots. However, this surface can be treated by polishing or painting to your own taste.
